I currently have a valid fishing license for California. I am going fishing to Ocean Cove and am wondering if i need a special license to fish the ocean. (I will be shore fishing)
Haven’t been fishing since probably 2004. Got a new rod, filled up a little tackle box, now just need remember a few things lol. When would I ever need to worry about a fishing license? Do I need one for fishing on a boat? Off of a pier? In a lake/pond? No rude comments please. 
And what if I do catch-and-release?
I have a friend going salmon fishing with us. He needs to purchase a fishing license but don’t drive therefore he don’t have ID. What other forms of ID are acceptable to purchase a license? This license is for Pulaski, NY. River and creek fishing not marine.
