Hi, looking for a saltwater rod (thinking 6 1/2 or 7 foot) to go with my shimano spheros reel. Will be used for porgy, striper, bluefish, sea bass, fluke… Mostly from a boat but a few times on the shore.

Just picked up a Quantum Torsion 7′ 2pc Medium Spinning Rod at an auction for a dollar, almost didt get it becuase of the brand but for a dollar…? My question is it is a thin rod but 7 foot long, so is it a saltwater rod? If so can it be used for fluke(flouder) off a boat or from the surf? Thanks

During the summer I’ve been fishing along the jersey shore (mainly the jetties) for the past 2 years and pretty much the only fish I catch are fluke. I was wondering what else is a good fish to go for and what kind of bait should I use?

I just bought a 9 foot surf rod and I don’t want to buy a boat rod so can I use my 9 foot spinning surf pole with 20 lb monofilament test on a deep sea fluke boat in NJ?

Can anyone help me pick a boat fishing rod & reel for saltwater in-shore fishing. I am mostly fishing in the long island sound, for blues fluke and strippers.

I would like to do bait fishing and also use poppers and jigs. Is there a rod and reel combos that would accomplish both types of fishing?

Also what lb test line is good?

Also what type of line should i buy? (braided, mono, flouro)
